Foreign participants are eligible to compete but will not be included in the Indian YAI national ranking.

Welcome to the YAI Youth & Junior Multiclass Championship 2026
The YAI Youth & Junior Multiclass Championship 2026 is a prestigious YAI National Ranking Event hosted by the Royal Mysore Sailing Club at the beautiful Krishna Raja Sagara in Mysore. This championship brings together the best young sailors from across India competing across nine boat classes, from Optimist to iQFOiL.
Organizing Authority
The event is organized by Royal Mysore Sailing Club (RMSC) in association with Royal Madras Yacht Club (Chennai), Royal Madras Yacht Club (Ennore), and Chennai Sailing Academy, supported by the Karnataka State Sailing Association (KSSA), under the aegis of the Yachting Association of India (YAI) and the respective National Class Associations.

- Coaches/Team Managers/Support Persons complete Addendum D

- Guardian authorization letter (mandatory for minors without parents present)
- YAI Membership Card and Basic Skills Level 3 Certificate
- Hull & sail certificate (Optimist); hull certificate (International 420)
Eligibility & Classes
The championship is open to sailors from clubs affiliated/registered with YAI and the respective National Class Associations with subscriptions fully paid. Each participant may enter only one class/division.

Important: Bring Your Own Boat
All participants must bring their own boats. Boats are not provided by the organizers. This is a standard requirement for this national ranking championship.
Rules & Regulations
The championship is governed by:
- Racing Rules of Sailing 2025–2028
- Equipment Rules of Sailing and current class rules of competing classes
- Appendix T Arbitration (applies to this championship)
- Appendix P — Special Procedures for Rule 42
Key Rule Variations:
- For 29er class: One-Turn Penalty replaces Two-Turn Penalty (RRS 44.1 and P2.1 modified); RRS P2.3 deleted, P2.2 applies for 3rd and subsequent penalties
- No National Authority prescriptions apply
- Change of crew is not permitted (this is a Ranking Event)
Scoring System
- 3 races minimum to constitute a series
- Maximum 10 races per class (3 races per day scheduled; 1 additional race possible)
- When 6 or fewer races completed: total of all race scores
- When 7 or more races completed: total excluding worst score
Safety Requirements
- Personal Flotation Devices (PFDs) or life jackets must be worn by all persons on support vessels while afloat
- Kill cord must be attached while engine is running on support vessels
- Teams practicing before 1 Sep 2026 must arrange their own rescue and safety
Support Persons & Team Leaders
- Support vessels must stay outside the racing area (minimum 100m) from the first preparatory signal until the end of each race
- Maximum speed of 5 knots in the general racing area at all times
- Display club flag (minimum 40cm × 25cm, visible from both sides) — OA will not provide flags
- All persons on support vessels must wear a PFD/life jacket
- Valid YAI Powerboat Handling Certificate (or equivalent) required for support vessel drivers
- Any person who has not submitted a duly signed indemnity bond to the OA shall not be taken afloat on any support vessel
Accommodation
Entry fee does not include boarding and lodging. Accommodation is available at the venue on a first-come, first-served basis — contact the OA at rmsc.mys.regatta@gmail.com for details. Lunch and refreshments are provided to registered competitors and support persons on racing days.
